Yay for Rhinocort nasal spray

Yay for Rhinocort nasal spray!! Yay!!! I feel better than I've felt in a while. No more nasty sinus headaches which follow with a post nasal drippy thing. Now, if I could just have healthy Gerbils I'd really feel relieved. So, Juniper's foot healed up, but now she has an itchy eczema-like think around her eye. Caliope is starting to act itchy too. The gland that is in the inner corner of their eyes is also swollen on both of my girls. I took Juniper to the vet last Friday, and the doctor was rather baffled. The only thing she could figure is that because of the stress she's been under, some miniscule mites have popped up. She also did a fungal culture on some fur she plucked out, but she won't get results from that for at least two or three weeks. Joy. So here I am stuck with itchy gerbils, who are depressed because they've been separated. I'm about to put them back together anyway, since they both seem to be afflicted with the same thing. They can at least be itchy together. The psychological state has so much to do with overcoming ailments, even with animals. I can deal with happy and itchy. Just not depressed and itchy. In happier news, this past Sunday my father took me out to buy a new cd player for my car, since the one that came with it broke about 2 years ago (wow, has it really been that long?). Happy birthday to me!! It's so foreign to me now to not have to surf desperately through 18 some channels to find something remotely worth listening to. This will make sitting in traffic much more bearable. Which I suspect I will be doing more than my fair share of with the holidays creeping up. Just last week it occured to me that Thanksgiving is coming up soon. My family has never been too hyped up about those sorts of things. Hell, my mother has already started preparing some of the meal because she hates trying to get all of the dishes to come together at the same time. Thanksgiving and Christmas have always seemed kind of overdone to me. I figure we should be thankful and kind to one another all of the time, rather than one or two special days out of the year, because it's what some tradition dictates. The whole thing with gifts ends up just being some false way to one up each other anyway (at least for many, it seems). The whole thing is just so nasty. Maybe working retail through too many holiday seasons has jaded me, but I kind of felt this way before. Why not give gifts just for the hell of it year round? Well, once again it seems humanity needs to have its hand held in order to attempt to be kind to one another. Who knows, maybe I'm just naive and would like kindness to be pure in motive. Or maybe I'm just pissy becuase our hot water heater broke and there is no water. But, as my Oma used to say, "Es gibt schlimmeres". And for her it meant dressing up as an old woman so she wouldn't be raped by Russian soldiers. For my Opa it meant nearly starving to death in a Russian prisoner of war camp. Oh how much I and most everyone else take for granted.
